 BANGTHEORY Founded in 1995 as a "songwriting factory" to explore my interest in mixing elements of Alternative, World and Industrial with 60s/70s Classic and Psychedelic Rock....BANGTHEORY also gave me a chance to play more guitar and drums after playing bass for most of my teens. The demos ended up receiving a bit of industry attention, so I started expanding my recording project into an actual band. However, the collapse of the indie-rock business following the dot com crash, along with the realization that, for me, the fun lies in playing most of the instruments myself, ultimately lead me to take a break from the industry... But, music is a deep, life-long passion and I have returned to recording and working on music, not to chase dreams, or a contract, but simply to try and share a vision and songs that others will hopefully be able to relate to, might enjoy, be inspired by, or something (anything's good, right?). I've also been collaborating with other artists...the first, One By One with Omenopus has received phenomenal response, as have my friends in Omenopus for both the debut, Portents and their latest, Time Flies. One By One is still available on my player, though the limited edition CD Portents, is sold out... Update: Monty Maggot Records has re-released Portents, once again as a limited edition CD, so you may want to pick one up before they sell out again, might be the price (it's actually free...but so is a lot of stuff), or perhaps all the great reviews and that it is the only place you can get their fantastically catchy hit Always with Spirits Burning and my collaboration with them, One By One, which also got a rather nice reaction. You can also sign up for their mailing list and get all kinds of nifty offers and chances to get collectibles and such in the future, as well as check out the new 1912 release here: http://www.montymaggot.com/ With the release of Down Again, my friend Ken Sailer (formerly of LMNOP) is now an official BANGTHEORIST and will be playing a bunch of guitar, lots of lead, some slide and pedal steel, maybe even a bit of mandolin and acoustic at some point and being the follow-up to One By One, Lee Potts returns to lend his production and performance magic and will continue to occasionally act as our George Martin on select upcoming BANGTHEORY releases.
